BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College men's basketball team dropped a non-conference contest, 80-75, to Marymount on Tuesday night in Nininger Hall.

The Basics

  • Final Score- Bridgewater 75, Marymount 80
  • Records- Bridgewater (2-3), Marymount (2-3)

How It Happened

  • After trading points to start the game, Bridgewater went on a 9-0 run to pull away and go up 23-13. Marymount used their own run to comeback and make it 28-29 with four minute to go in the half
  • The Eagles held a 27-26 edge with one minute to go in the frame when an Aaron Oates layup increased the lead to 39-36 as the teams entered the locker room. Rashod Smith had 12 points, three rebounds and three assists in the first half while Alec Topper had 11 points and three rebounds
  • The start of the second half was much like the first as the teams put on a back-and-forth affair
  • With the game tied at 65-65, the Saints went on an 11-point run to pull ahead and go up 76-67. Bridgewater pressured the Saints to the finish, ultimately falling just short of the victory

Match Notes

  • Bridgewater won the rebounding battle 42-38 while scoring 24 points off of Marymount turnovers
  • Smith had a game-high 22 points followed by Topper with 21
  • Andy Pack had game-high ten rebounds followed by Kellen Hodge with eight
  • Smith and Mikey Ayala both contributed four assists
