Men's Basketball Wins Home Opener

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College men's basketball team welcomed fans back to Nininger Hall with a 79-58 victory over previously unbeaten Penn St. Mont Alto.

The Basics

  • Final Score: Bridgewater 79, Penn St. Mont Alto 58
  • Records: Bridgewater (2-1), Penn St. Mont Alto (5-1)

How It Happened 

  • Penn St. Mont Alto took an early lead in the first half going up 19-13. After an Eagles timeout, back-to-back three-pointers from Alec Topper and Andy Pack made it 21-21
  • Bridgewater went the final two minutes of the first half without a basket but was still able to enter halftime up 32-30. Topper paced the Eagles in the first half with 11 points
  • The Eagles separated themselves in the second half behind an 8-0 run of made free throws. Bridgewater shot 87.5% from the charity stripe compared to Penn St. Mont Alto's 50%
  • Pack contributed 17 points in the second frame to lead Bridgewater to the 79-58 victory

Match Notes

  • Pack had a game-high 22 points followed by Topper with 16
  • Topper and Aaron Oates had a team-high six rebounds 
  • Mikey Ayala had a game-high four assists
